Tablinum (Latin), Tablino (modern Italian) and Takhtabush (modern Arabic). A room set up between two courts or atria, for a cooling cross-draft. The tablinum was the office in a Roman house, the father's centre for business, where he would receive his clients. For Roman tablinums, see also Category:Impluvia (the pool in the adjacent atrium).
