guy 156 Report post Posted March 10, 2022 (edited) Our images of past historical figures are shaped by their modern depictions in the movies and television. Marc Antony is most memorably portrayed by James Purefoy in the HBO series “Rome” seen above. Cleopatra is wonderfully portrayed by Elizabeth Taylor below: Here is a wonderful scene from the HBO series “Rome” between Marc Antony (James Purefoy) and Cleopatra (Lyndsey Marshal). Here is an artists depiction of how they would look today by graphic designer Becca Saladin: https://www.uxdesigndoc.com/2020/02/17/what-would-historical-figures-look-like-today/ And here is Julius Caesar: Edited March 10, 2022 by guy
caesar novus 49 Report post Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) Quote filed a case with the Egyptian public prosecutor’s office to shut down the Netflix platform in Egypt, following the trailer release of “Queen Cleopatra”, which inaccurately portrays the last <Greek> Queen of Egypt as a sub-Saharan African. "the documentary promotes the kind of Afrocentrism which aims at distorting and obliterating Egyptian identity and contradicts the country’s history." P.S.: Speaking of televised afrocentrism, the reason U.S. commercials have turned 85% into depictions of afro american life (15% of audience) is ESG. Pensions and other investments have been de-linked from their owners and weaponized for ideology. It used to be that investors would vote for company board members and policies, but this has recently been taken over by institutions who mandate Orwellian Social Good policies. Free markets with their "invisible hand" adapting to consumers are increasingly sabotaged. Edited April 20, 2023 by caesar novus
