Airplanes at Night (Captain Doug's video)

There's a great song playing on the radio, Airplanes at Night, so I thought I'd add some pictures to it. Enjoy! (There may be another "oops")And as the last slide states, "...do not go gentle into that good night..."

It looks like YouTube blocked it:

"This video contains content from WMG, who has blocked it on copyright grounds."

Marc. Thanks for the heads up. My twelve year old son told me this might happen. I tried windows media player and that did not work. I posted my Facebook link. Hope this works.

The facebook one doesn't work :(

Hi Daniel. Do you have any technical suggestions? I'm trying to get it out there but it seems I'm hitting lots of walls. Out of curiosity, do you have a Facebook account? Maybe one needs one to watch it.

For some reason blogger.com won't upload my video from my computer. Weird stuff.

Check your email. I think I have a solution for you.

Yea, I think that you have to create one although I am not 100% correct. You could put it up on http://vimeo.com/ . Its a very good site for hosting videos.

Doug,

You could just take the audio off, repost it on Youtube and then we'll just sing along in our heads :P

(at Andrew's comment)

Ha ha ha...another good idea!

I can do that...

"Can we pretend that the airplanes, in the night sky, are shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now..." :)

I just tried the link and still doesn;t work. It said "This video either has been removed from Facebook or is not visible due to privacy settings."

Sorry, I'm not techy. Cant help

Mark. Thanks for the feedback. Who would ever think things would be so difficult? Doug

Good one Andrew.:)

It's getting to be quite a work out. I guess I shouldn't have been so creative. :)

Great video! One of my favorite songs to listen to.

Hey Daniel. It worked! Thanks for recommending the website. Much appreciated! Yes, for us aviation types it's a catchy tune. Doug

Giulia. Thanks for all the suggestions but I'm staying away from You tube for awhile.

Seems you've got the lyrics to the song down pat. :)

thanks for a very good and informative post, these things we are not told by anyone, we just have to learn and know

Ron. Thanks for your positive feedback. That's my goal, to open the flight deck door on my blog...figuratively speaking of course.

Stay tuned. There will be lots of great information to come.

Wow Doug, your pretty in-tune with todays music even considering your an A320 captain, quite impressed

From the Flight Deck said...

Hi Jason. All of us Air Canada pilots are happening dudes. :)

I think it's a great song and the fact it references airplanes makes even better.

But it was my young son who retrieved it for me from the internet.

Captain Doug the rapper :)

(giggling...)

omigosh...did you say "happening dudes" ?!?!?

Reeeeeally cool!!!

Giulia. I just had a great idea. Maybe I can do my announcements with a "rap" tempo? Nah, I would probably be pulled into the office. I'll be doing a Rapidair turn to your city tonight. And speaking of announcements we are suppose to thank our passengers for using Air Canada's Rapidair service. You can tell there is competition in the air. But I bet the competition doesn't have hip "flying dudes" as pilots.

:) :) :)

Giulia said...

Ahem..."hip"????

You might want to brush up on your descriptors. :)

You are dating yourself, again.

:) :) :) :)

Oh, and I remember seeing a video clip of a flight attendant who rapped his announcements. It was brilliant and people enjoyed it.

I might as well quit while I'm ahead.

I saw the same clip. He did a great job. That might work on our competition's flights but we at AC tend to be a little more generic. I know...boring.

Can I ask why you were in Stockholm in uniform on New Year's Eve? AC has never flown from here, have they?

Hi Steve. About four to five years ago we stopped in Stockholm from New Delhi. We couldn't quite make Toronto direct. We had crews there all the time. They finally lightened the aircraft enough (no duty free, etc) and we started flying New Delhi non stop to Toronto. But with a fully loaded A340, the take offs out of New Delhi sure were interesting.
Sadly we no longer fly to India. I guess Emirates has taken up the challenge by flying their A380 to Toronto.

Good question though.
